On September 17, 2015 I was called into my boss’ office by the President of the company for whom I had worked for over 23 years and told that my position was being eliminated and that my last day would be October 30th. Seven weeks. Seven weeks became 13 weeks and my actual last day was December 18, 2015.
During October I was uncertain what the future would hold. There was uncertainty about so many things in my mind in October. For the first few weeks after learning that I was being downsized I was depressed. Then I contacted a Christian friend about applying with his employer. Immediately he encouraged me and reassured me and he made me feel, for the first time, that things might be okay. From that moment things changed for me. His encouragement and reassurance along with the support and prayers of my family, friends and especially my Sunday School class helped me through a very difficult time, a time so difficult that I’m just now able to put it in some perspective.
I have been blessed that at key moments in my life God has placed special people into my life who have made a profound difference in my life. As a child I was blessed to have a teacher who taught me so much of what I know about God, Jesus and the Bible. As a high school and college student I was blessed with a mentor in our Associate Pastor at the church I attended. God’s providence placed them in my life at key moments in my life and I’m certain that God had once again, at a key moment in my life, placed someone into my life that has already made a profound difference on the future of my life. I began the new chapter of my career with my friend’s employer in February.
With all that has been going on during these months I just haven’t had the time or the brain power to blog. Hopefully that will change this summer as I get more comfortable in my new position.
